Short answer: a website builder is the cheapest way to start and is fine for a simple site you will run yourself. A freelancer suits a small, clearly defined project, done by someone whose live work you have seen. A company suits a business that needs a written contract, design, code and support handled by one team, and someone accountable after launch. In Jordan, company websites usually cost 700 to 2,500 JOD, builders charge a monthly plan in US dollars, and freelance quotes vary widely, so compare them on the same written scope.
What each option costs in Jordan
| Website builder | Freelancer | Company | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Upfront cost | Your time | Varies widely, agree it in writing | Company websites usually 700 to 2,500 JOD |
| Running cost | A monthly or yearly plan in US dollars | Domain and hosting, plus fixes when you ask | Domain and hosting, usually 40 to 150 JOD a year, plus an optional care plan |
| Design | A template you adjust | Depends on the person | Usually designed for you and reviewed with you |
| Paperwork | The platform's terms | Depends on the person, so ask for a written agreement | A written proposal and invoices from a registered company |
| Who fixes problems | You, with the platform's help pages | The same person, when available | A team, often on a care plan |
You will also see template packages in Jordan for under 150 to 300 JOD. They are usually a template with your logo on it, which can be enough to test an idea. Our guide to website costs in Jordan explains what each price should include.
What you own at the end
This is the question most people forget to ask, and it decides how hard it is to change course later.
Website builder
You own your content, and your domain if it is registered in your name. You do not own the site itself. Wix, for example, says a Wix site has to run on Wix's servers and cannot be moved to another host. To leave, you rebuild.
Freelancer
You can own everything, but only if you ask for it. Make sure the domain and hosting are in your name, that you have the admin login, and that the code or theme files are handed over at the end. Put this in a short written agreement before work starts.
Company
The same rules apply, and a serious company writes them into the proposal. At Saree3 the code, design files and accounts are transferred to you on final payment, with no monthly lock-in. If any company registers the domain in its own name, ask for that to change before you pay.
Whoever builds the site, check these five things at handover:
- The domain is registered in your name, with an email you control.
- Hosting is in your name, or you have full access to it.
- You have an admin account on the site, not only an editor account.
- You have the source code or a full export.
- Analytics, Search Console and your Google Business Profile are in your name.
Who supports you after launch
A website needs small work for as long as it is live. A price changes, a plugin needs an update, a form stops sending, a new service needs a page.
- Builder: the platform keeps hosting and security running. Content changes are yours. When something breaks in a way the help pages do not cover, you work it out or hire someone.
- Freelancer: support depends on one person's calendar. That can be very responsive. It can also stop when the person takes a full-time job, travels or moves on to bigger clients. Ask what happens if they are unavailable for two weeks.
- Company: support is a service with a price and a response time. At Saree3, care plans start at 80 JOD a month and cover backups, updates, fixes and content edits. Ask any company for its response time in writing.

Which fits your stage
Choose a builder if
- You are testing an idea and the budget is very small.
- You need a few pages and you are happy to edit them yourself.
- You do not need local card payments, cash on delivery with local couriers, or links to other systems.
Choose a freelancer if
- The project is small and clear, such as a five page site from content you already have.
- You have opened live sites they built on your phone and spoken to one of their clients.
- You are comfortable managing the project and the handover yourself.
A good freelancer is the right call for many small businesses. The risk is rarely skill. It is continuity, and what happens when that one person is busy.
Choose a company if
- The site is how you get leads or sales, so a broken form or a slow page costs money.
- You need design, development, content setup and Google setup handled together.
- You need an online store, payments, a booking system or a link to your CRM or ERP.
- You need invoices from a registered company and a written, fixed scope.
Saree3 is registered in Jordan, with a team in Amman. Recent company websites include TechLine Factory, a fiber optic cable manufacturer, and Steel X Jordan, a manufacturer of steel structures. Landing pages start at 350 JOD and company websites at 700 JOD. See website design in Jordan.
Common mistakes, whoever you hire
- Choosing on price alone. The lowest quote often leaves out content setup, speed work or Google setup. Ask what is missing before you compare.
- No written scope. A WhatsApp chat is not a contract. Without a list of pages and features, every change becomes a new price.
- Paying everything upfront. Pay in stages tied to work you can see: a deposit, approved designs, then launch.
- Forgetting content. Late text and photos are the most common reason a site launches late, whoever builds it.
- Skipping the handover. Get the logins, the files and a short walkthrough of the dashboard on launch day, not months later when something breaks.
How to compare quotes from all three
Send each one the same brief. Our website brief template is a one-page list you can copy. Then ask each of them for:
- The pages and features, in writing.
- The schedule, and what happens if it slips.
- The yearly costs after launch.
- Who owns the domain, hosting and code.
- Two live sites and a client you can call.
