Masar employee tracking app
Attendance and field tracking for TechLine Factory
An internal Android app where TechLine Factory staff clock in and out, and each working day comes back as a written summary. Apps like this start at 2,500 JOD.
Masar is an employee tracking app that Saree3 built for TechLine Factory, a manufacturer of fibre optic and energy products in Amman. Staff clock in and out from the phone, and the company sees where its field teams are during working hours. Employee tracking apps like this start at 2,500 JOD for a first version. Masar is an internal app, so it is not listed on the app stores. We also built the TechLine Factory website.
The brief
TechLine has staff who spend much of the day away from the factory, at client sites and on the road. The company wanted attendance recorded from the phone and a clear picture of where field teams are during working hours, without paper reports and without a screen full of coordinates that nobody reads. The app had to run on Android phones the company owns, and only during working hours.
What we built
We built an Android app with two kinds of account: staff and managers. Staff use it to clock in and out. While a shift is running, the app records the phone's location and sends it to the company's cloud account. The server then turns each day into short sentences in Arabic: where the employee stayed, when they moved and where they went, for example, moved from Sweifieh to Wadi Saqra at 10:35. Places the company names itself, such as the factory or a regular client site, replace street addresses in the summary.
Key features of the Masar employee tracking app
- Clock in and clock out from the phone.
- Location recorded only during working hours.
- A written summary of each employee's day in Arabic, instead of a table of coordinates.
- A timeline of the day for each employee.
- Named places, so the summary says the factory instead of a street name.
- Points saved on the phone when there is no signal and sent when the connection returns.
- Accounts created only by the company's admin. Staff sign in with a username and password.
- Alerts for managers when something stops the tracking, such as a new phone or tracking switched off.
- An Arabic interface designed for daily use on a phone.
How it works for staff and managers
An employee arrives, opens Masar and clocks in. The app works in the background for the rest of the shift, even when the screen is off or the signal drops. At the end of the day they clock out and tracking stops. A manager opens the app and reads each employee's day as a few lines of text, then checks attendance for the team without calling anyone.
New phones are prepared with a written setup guide, so the company can add a new handset or a new employee without waiting for us.
Stack
The screens are written in Flutter. The background location service and the device features are written in native Android code, because that work has to keep running when the app is closed. A cloud backend stores each day and writes the summaries. Masar is Android only, because the company issues Android handsets to its staff.
What the client gets
After final payment, TechLine owns the code, the design files and the cloud accounts the app runs on. Saree3 stays available for changes, and our care plans start at 80 JOD per month. Read more on our mobile app development page, see the Gourmet Club membership app, or browse the full portfolio.
